Evgeny Chebatkov is a comedian who does not promise easy answers, but speaks easily about the most difficult things. His concerts are a fragile mixture of nostalgia for the nineties, emigrant everyday life and that very Russian longing, in which, with some effort, there is still room for friendship, shame and a little hope.
Between his childhood in the Urals, panic attacks on a volcano and attempts to understand his own identity, Chebatkov assembles absurdity from disparate details and then tosses them to the viewer, who is always in doubt whether to laugh hard or to think seriously.
Despite the darkness of the starting point - be it the criminal life of the past or patriotism without pathos - his observations are quite honest: sometimes his father is the enemy, sometimes Moscow is a volcano, and sometimes all of adult life is just a long training session with sticks.
