About

Mikhail Shats In the concert "Suitcase, Station and..." Shats dissects the experience of emigration: constant moving, language barrier, exorbitant prices for a trivial filling and eternal irrationality of the new reality. Here, buses defy logic, and in local stories, old people are more shocking than the news. All this is under the reflective gaze of a man who continues to search for himself among strangers with irony and the realization that illusions have been left behind. "Vintage" is closer to home, though that home is moving apart before our eyes. Schatz explores old age and the short-lived nature of the familiar world: one generation dissolves into nostalgia for the USSR, the other runs forward without turning back, and in between are disturbing wearable gadgets and attempts at parental understanding. It all sounds almost like a dissection of a family archive, where skepticism and fatigue become an antidote to the paranoia of the present.
