A year and a half in Kazakhstan and attempts to overthrow the regime through chat rooms where everyone reads except those who need to; family dramas against the backdrop of perpetual shortages and Soviet equipment that broke down less often than our hopes; army drills with pickaxes and phones instead of radios and the idea that revolutions are an art that we don't master, but the Kyrgyz are masters; all this in a sauce of tired irony about a generation that is stuck in the past and doesn't know how to let go.
