Daniil Petrov
About
Daniil Petrov seems to know a little more about family comedy than every adult child would like. In his concert MAMEN'S SON, growing up is accompanied by frugal gifts, home eye doctors and repairs that take forever. There is no room for illusions: even banal care turns into a comical exchange of services. Petrov skeptically observes how intimate conversations become bogged down in Soviet delicacy, and family support over the years becomes more and more like surviving sanctions and thin walls. At the center is a sense that any intimacy here is doomed to mild absurdity. Petrov has one strong message: family is the trickiest of all deals.
